Heli-skiing at Triple Point, Alaska

While neighbouring British Columbia could claim to be the spiritual home of heli-skiing, it is hard to deny that Alaska is the epicentre of big mountain powder skiing, benefitting from huge snowfalls and wild, dramatic terrain. There are numerous Alaskan heliski operations but we think Triple Point Expeditions (TPX) is one of the best. Don’t just take our word for it – Teton Gravity Research are regular visitors, filming the ground-breaking part of Winterland here.

TPX has just about everything you could want from a heliski destination – an ideal location (between the legendary powder factory of the Chugach mountains and the slightly drier, more continental climates of the Tordrillos, Neocolas, Talkeetnas and the Alaskan Ranges), just two small groups per helicopter and quick, easy access from Anchorage. The terrain has something for everyone from steep skiing to challenge the pros to hero skiing for mere mortals.

Owner Operated: By Skiers for Skiers

In our experience it is always a huge plus when a heliski operation is owner operated. Tucker Patton, guide and founder of TPX is involved in all aspects of the business and has assembled a team of passionate mountain professionals who live and breathe Alaskan skiing...and they are all committed to making your heliski experience extraordinary.

Flexibility & Minimal Downtime

Small groups and flexibility are a must if you are to have any chance of making the best of conditions and weather in Alaska. Two groups of four per helicopter plus a strategic location gives you the flexibility and responsiveness to take advantage of different micro climates and make the best of challenging conditions if they arise. In terms of minimising the chances of downtime this is one of the best bets in Alaska.

Terrain for Everyone

Alaska has the reputation for being the big mountain powder skiing capital of the world - and it is! But mountains are mountains. Some are steep, some are less steep and some are flat as a pancake! With a helicopter and a team of guides dedicated to finding the best skiing and snowboarding for your comfort level, there genuinely is terrain to suit most level of skiers and snowboarders.
